Campground 7 Reclamation
Environmental Remediation
Ryno Construction partnered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to complete the Campground 7 Project near Silverton, Colorado, at the headwaters of the Animas River—a critical water source for Southwestern Colorado and downstream communities.
Lead Cleanup
The project involved the excavation and removal of mine and mill waste containing lead-contaminated materiallocated adjacent to a popular campground. Our team mitigated the hazardous materials to prevent further contamination of the Animas River, improving both water quality and public health safety.
Campground Development
Following successful waste removal and site stabilization, Ryno Construction redeveloped the area into a clean, public-use campground, complete with gravel parking pads and a boulder perimeter for safety and traffic control. The restoration also included cutting and transplanting willows to encourage native vegetation regrowth and stabilize the riparian zone.
This project highlights Ryno Construction’s expertise in environmental remediation, mine reclamation, and transforming legacy mining sites into safe, usable public recreation spaces.
